Travel Immunisations/Vaccinations

Please note that many travel vaccinations do not fall under the NHS core service, hence there may be a fee for them. A list of fees is posted at reception. Please fill in a Travel Questionnaire Form at least 8 - 12 weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover.  If you are travelling somewhere more exotic or backpacking, please contact us about 6 months in advance of your travel.  Arranging the schedule and accessing the vaccines may take time and it is better to notify us well in advance.  If you leave it too late we may also not have the appointment capacity and you may have to use an independent travel clinic instead

To book a travel vaccination appointment, the Travel health Questionnaire must be completed and handed in to the surgery. This can also be completed online see Section below. The practice nurse will asses the risks and vaccinations you may require prior to your appointment. At your appointment, The practice nurse is able to give detailed advice on all travel vaccinations and malaria prevention, as well as general advice for travellers.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

Central America Central Americaindia South America

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible  - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment may be required with the practice nurse should you require further doses of vaccinations.  Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
