Appointments

To book an appointment, please call 01420 477968, please see below re types of appointments available.

The surgery is open Mondays to Fridays from 8.30am to 6.30pm. The surgery is closed, apart from medical emergencies, during lunch hour from 1pm to 2pm.

From 1st April 2015 you may notice some changes: we will now be offering more face-to-face appointments with the doctors and less telephone consultations.  This is to reflect the many comments we have received.

We also hope to offer the chance to pre-book further in advance than 4 weeks fairly soon.  We have also increased the number of appointments that are available over the web.  Please see the link below if you would like to sign up for this facility.  This is only for appointments with doctors and is not available for the Practice Nurses as the appointments vary in length according to what is required e.g. a diabetic review needs much longer than a simple flu vaccination.

Doctor’s appointments

The doctors at Pinehill Surgery work as a team and are happy to deal with ALL patients registered here. Should you wish to be seen by a particular doctor, please request this when booking an appointment. The receptionist will aim to provide you an appointment for the doctor of your choice, although it is not always possible as the doctors cover different sessions throughout the week.

If you require an appointment with a doctor, please ring the surgery on the day, on 01420 477968 preferably as soon after 8.00 am as you can.  There are also a limited number of book ahead appointments that can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.

Surgeries normally run from 08.30 – 11.30am & 2.40 – 5.40pm.

On the Day Telephone Consultations - Help us to Help you.

Please note these are for URGENT problems - and if you consider your problem is urgent you should be available to answer the phone as soon as the doctor calls you and be available to attend the Surgery if the doctor feels he/she needs to examine you.

If this is not possible then your call is probably not urgent and you should book a routine appointment or use the e-Consult/Web GP button on this screen as an alternative method of contacting the GP direct.

Currently a lot of time and resource is wasted with calls not being answered the first time the doctor calls.

Urgent Cases

To assist the doctors in prioritising and directing patients to the correct healthcare professional, the doctors at this surgery will ring patients in the first instance for these cases. Appointments will then be scheduled in terms of priority.

Non-urgent appointments

Please phone the surgery on 01420 477968 and inform receptionists, you require a non- urgent appointment. Appointments are available from 3 days in advance to 4 weeks in advance. If you wish to see a particular GP, please request this when booking the appointment.

Routine Nurses appointments

All nurses are available by appointment for smears, blood pressure checks, vaccinations, contraception advice, asthma and diabetes checks, injections, baby immunisations and dressings. If you require an appointment for a blood test, ECG or blood pressure check, please request for an appointment with the Health Care Assistant.

Phone lines

online healthcare

Our phone lines open at 8.30am in the mornings. Please note that the telephone lines are busiest in the mornings and especially on Mondays. The telephone system does operate a queuing system and your call will be answered as soon the receptionist is able to process the call before yours. Please be patient if your call is not answered immediately. Please also make your call as brief as possible to allow us to deal with the next call.

Please note that each patient has been allocated a 10 minute appointment. If you have several problems or queries, you may need to book a double appointment.  If a relative or friend to accompanies you to your appointment, please introduce him/her to the doctor.

Locum Doctors

From time to time, when doctors are away, we employ a locum to ensure that enough doctors are available. We try to use the same locums who know us and possibly know some of you too.
